The culture of Príncipe Island is a blend of African and Portuguese traditions, with a special emphasis on dance, music, art, and gastronomy.

August is the cultural month of Príncipe, a time to celebrate and promote its cultural identity. Throughout this month, various cultural expressions parade through the streets of the city of Santo António, creating an atmosphere of harmony between residents and visitors.

This is the crown jewel of the cultural calendar and is considered one of the most significant events in São Tomé and Príncipe. It not only attracts tourists to the island but also many emigrants from the diaspora who return for the occasion during the cultural month, which culminates on August 15 and 31 with the renowned Camilo Domingos Festival.
